Katmai National Park Tours

Between Brooks Camp, The Valley of 10,000 Smokes, the coastline and everything in between, Katmai is a must visit!

Thanks to our specialized fleet of aircraft and our experienced pilots, we are able to take you and your family bear viewing in the most remote and wild parts of southwest Alaska. In the months of June and early July, the best way to see bears is in our large tire bush planes on the coastlines of both Lake Clark and Katmai National Park. At this time, the bears are digging for clams during low tide and grazing on the swamp grass.

For the months of July and August, our most popular bear viewing destination is Brooks Falls in Katmai National Park, Only accessible by floatplane. Brooks falls is approximately an hour flight from Lake Clark Resort. Bear viewing at Brooks Falls offers photographers and wildlife viewers the chance to witness large numbers of brown bears fishing for sockeye salmon in the same stretch of river. The flight on the way down provides a great aerial view of Katmai National Park and the surrounding waters.

In late August and throughout the month of September, the bears typically move more inland to Katmai National Preserve. In the more remote parts of Katmai National preserve, we use both floatplane and bush plane to experience there bears face to face.
